I can't imagine wearing a corset. But my grandmother wore one until the day she died at 95. She had a nasty sore on one thigh from where the garter attached to the corset, but wore it anyway. Girdle-free, braleas Jane, who now wears undershirts and is entirely comfortable. I even look decent. But then I'm old bat now. My gradmother wore an old-fashioned corset until the day she died at 95She had permanent sores from where the garters attached but wouldn't give up the corset. I do not know how she stood it. And I agree it is worth doing that uncomfortable exam to keep our girls healthy. Everybody go get a mammogram! :-)Lynn Lovegreenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18381497298898067525noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4782401287764864195.post-80930548015383084522011-10-23T10:48:30.954-08:002011-10-23T10:48:30.954-08:00Great post, Carmen! I think it's why period clothing has never, ever interested me -- it's just not all that much fun to imagine wearing. But the whole ill-fitting bra/don't wear your bra more than 12 hours thing is wonderful. I'd go braless far more often if I didn't wear a size 38-long (and there are some thing people just don't want to see)!

Thanks for a wonderful history lesson that is soooo important today!LizbethSelvighttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14068753571254601527noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4782401287764864195.post-16777265359780773162011-10-23T01:21:21.141-08:002011-10-23T01:21:21.141-08:00Interesting blog on boobies and the things used to...Interesting blog on boobies and the things used to cover and lift them! I have never liked wearing bras, but it seemed the decent thing to do if I was out in public. Nowadays, girls wear bras so the straps contrast with their outfits. That used to be considered so trashy back when I was a girl and it's hard for me to see my nearly-16 year old wear her blue bra with her red scoop-neck blouse with the straps showing. I have been known to walk past her with my hand over my eyes.Vee Worthyhttp://www.veeworthy.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4782401287764864195.post-15509236055613617412011-10-23T01:21:08.534-08:002011-10-23T01:21:08.534-08:00Interesting blog on boobies and the things used to...Interesting blog on boobies and the things used to cover and lift them!
